According to oral tradition, the Wooden Church of Cristești would have been built in the year 1860, while the village was shepherded by the priest Dâlvu from Obârșia. Until the year 1916, the church was covered with shingle, and after that with tiles. The last restoration was made in the year 1969, through the contributions made by the christians, but also with the help received from the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchy. The small number of christians, the low financial resources of these people, who lived in a small mountain village, are reflected in the decorations of the church.
