According to some notes from 14 March 1708 on a copy of Varlaam's book made by the priest John from Vidra, a wooden church already existed in these parts. In another note dating from the year 1732, found in the same book, another church is mentioned, built ,,up north from the old church". It is certain that the second note refers to the actual wooden church, built around the year 1724, under the patronage of ,,St. Cosma and Damian". The paintjob and the iconostasis from 1851, have been preserved only partially.
