The founder of this Orthodox place of worship was captain Jovan Popović Tekelija, for the families of the Serbian border guards settled here. The church was rebuilt in 1790 in the baroque style with rococo accents. Here there are also preserved the oldest flags of the guilds from Arad and several flags of the border guards from Mureş from the years 1702 – 1751.
