Following the Preparandia's activity, the first pedagogical school from Banat and Crișana began its activity on the 16th of November 1812. Located at 5-7 General Ioan Dragalina Boulevard, the two-story building was built in 1895 in eclectic style. Prominent teachers taught at this school, men of culture, such as Dimitrie Ţichindeal fabulist, first director (1812-1815), philologist Constantin Diaconovici Loga (1812-1831), Alexandru Gavra (1821-1877), Athanasius Șandor (1848-1874), the eminent politician Vincent Babeș (1846-1848), naturalist Theodore Ceontea (1876-1903), Traian Mager, the monograph of the Hălmagiu area and of many others.
