The Ionești village, mentioned in documents dating from 1441, belongs to the Hălmagiu commune. Here we can find one of the oldest wooden churches (1460), rebuilt from the ground up. The current construction dates from 1720-1730. Visible from a great distance because it is positioned on a hill, the wooden church from Ionești is a worship place built in a traditional style.
